Romans 8:14 (amp) "For all are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God."
The greek word for led is "ago", which means to lead. It was often used to depict animals that were led by a rope tied around their necks. Once tied to that rope, these animals willfully followed wherever their owners "led" them. Paul used this same word to tell us that we should be willing to let the Holy Spirit lead us in every part of our lives. We should simply be obedient and follow! Translated literally, this verse would read: "Those who follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit, they are the sons of God."
Isaiah 55:8-12 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out [from the spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by you Leader, the Lord Himself, and His word] with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
John 16:13 the Spirit of truth...will show you things to come...
But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
The word "show" is the greek word odegeo, which means "a guide who shows a traveler the safest course through an unknown country." Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to be our guide through life! He know which way we should go, how to avoid every trap and every attack! When you study the book of Acts you will find that the Holy Spirit constantly guided people through hard territory. In each case, he would protect people from danger or keep them from making mistakes. (Acts 11:27-29; Acts 16:7; Acts 16:9) We must remember, without our cooperation he cannot guide us anywhere.
Galatians 5:16-18 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; the you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). For the desires of the flesh are oppposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy} Spirit, you are not subject to the Law.
